Wimbledon, the oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament, was organized for the first time in 1877 by the All England Lawn Croquet Club in London.
For 140 years, the English capital has hosted on the grass of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon the tournament attended by the best tennis players in the world, dressed strictly in white. The main courts of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club in Wimbledon are maintained all year round by a team of about fifteen gardeners and are used only during the two weeks of the tournament - and exceptionally for particularly important events, such as the Olympics.
