The sport of tennis is played with racket and ball, a tennis match can be played between two players (single) or two pairs of players (double) on a playing field divided into two halves by a net. Players try to score points by hitting a ball with their racket and landing it in their opponent's field area, out of the latter's reach
to get points. The rules of tennis are managed by the International Tennis Federation (ITF), which has established a common international regulation of the game. Here are some of the main rules of tennis:
- The game begins with the serve, which is carried out from a line located within its own half of the field. The serving player tries to land the ball in their opponent's service area, but out of the latter's reach to try to score a point .
- Once the serve has been served, players can hit the ball while holding the racket with one or both hands and bounce it off their own half of the court before it touches the ground in the opponent's court area. Players can hit the ball in any way, but they can't touch it with their hands or body .
- The point is also awarded when the opponent is unable to pass the ball over the net and when he cannot take the line
- If a ball is hit outside the opponent's court area, the player who made the shot scores a point. If the ball is hit outside the field but touches the bottom line, the point is awarded to the player who received the serve .
- If a player commits an offence, such as hitting the ball twice or hitting the ball outside the court area after it hits the ground in their own half of the court, the point is awarded to the opponent.
- A shot is valid even if the ball, when bouncing off the ground, touches the outside line of the field (in) and for the rest the invalid part of the field (out).
- The game continues until one of the players reaches a total of at least four games. In each game, players start at 0. When they make the first point, the score rises to 15; with the second point, the points rise to 30; with the third point, the score rises to 40. With the fourth point, the score rises to 41 and the player wins the game.
- Every set is won when a player reaches the sixth game, unless there are two points difference between the opponents. In this case, whoever reaches seven games wins, but if you reach an even six you can play the tiebreak.
