Former scrum midfielder of Calvisano, one of the most important teams in Italy, he scored 1064 points in 14 seasons, contributing to the victory of 4 Scudetti and 2 Italian Cups.
At the international level, he has 42 caps with Italy between 2004 and 2009, participation in the 2007 Rugby World Cup and a call-up to the Barbarians, the most important invitational club in the world.
Griffen was the coach of Italy Under 17 and of the Under-18 Training Center, lending his skills to the growth and development of young average scrum players.
A New Zealander by birth but in Italy since 1999, Paul Griffen is one of the most popular characters on the Italian rugby scene.
