The origins of Crossfit date back to the Seventies, in the United States, but its real diffusion occurred in the second half of the nineties when, in 1995 in Santa Cruz, California, a guy named Greg Glassman founded the first CrossFit gym in the world.
Crossfit has a constantly different approach to training because it draws on other disciplines such as gymnastics, weightlifting, powerlifting, including Strongman-like contests, plyometrics, bodyweight exercises, rowing, aerobic exercises, running, etc. The discipline had a relatively rapid success given the immediate results in physical fitness and its explosion in Italy occurred in 2010 with the opening of the first gyms dedicated to CrossFit.
The key principle of Crossfit training lies in the variety of stimuli. The name itself says so, consisting of the words' cross' and 'fit', or the intertwining of multiple motor activities.
