Golf is a precision sport in which players try to hit a ball with a golf club and land it in a hole, more or less distant, with as few shots as possible. The rules of golf are imposed by the International Golf Federation (IGF) and the Professional Golf Association (PGA), the two governments over the years have established a set of common rules for the game at an international level. Here are the main rules of golf:
- The game begins with a player's first shot, which is taken from the tee box. The players try to land the ball as far as possible so that they have an easier shot on the green .
- If the ball lands outside the boundaries of the field, the player takes a one-shot penalty and must hit again from the same spot.
- When the ball is in the green, the players try to get it into the hole with as few shots as possible. If the ball comes off the green, the player takes a one-shot penalty and must hit again from the same spot .
- If a player commits an offence during the game, such as hitting the ball with a teammate's bat, the player gets a penalty of one shot.
- The game continues until all the players have completed the course and placed the golf ball in each hole. The player who reached the last hole in the fewest hits wins the game .
